A Baby Sister for Frances

Apr 29, 2018

Is your child about to become a big sister or brother? Being displaced by a new-born baby in the family can be heartbreaking for the first-born child. I read this classic book to my daughter many times as she adjusted to her baby sister. I felt guilty about her having to share my time and attention, but this book reassured me it was all going to be okay.

Frances and her family of badgers are adorable and endearing, always singing little made up songs —which is something I love to do! Many children will relate to Frances and her plans to run away from home. Her mother and father cleverly support her as she adjusts to the change. They help her realize she’s growing up too, and let her know there will always be a special place for her in the family.

Helps with: transitions, becoming a sibling, running away from home, welcoming a new baby in the family, parenting, change, growing up.
