Trees are a wonder of nature.

Trees stand still and silent year after year.

But there’s a lot going on under the surface.

When I look up at the trees, walking around my neighbourhood, I’m in awe of the full canopy above my head. I have so many questions which is why I love reading books about trees.

We can learn so much from trees.

The Magic & Mystery of Trees teaches you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about trees and more. You’ll learn about:

  • The parts of a tree and how they work together.
  • How trees live to be so old.
  • The incredible partnership and community between trees.
  • The amazing habitat they create for animals.
  • How vital trees are to every one of us.
  • That trees use their senses.
  • How we can help the trees.

The illustrations by Clarie McElfatrick, bring every page to life, from the wild animals and insects living in the trees, tree bark so real you’ll want to touch it, the amazing ecosystem of a tree, and even a detailed map of the world’s forests.

Just like humans, trees are stronger together.

“If a tree is damaged and starts to die, its neighbors will pass it food to keep it alive.”

In reading this treasure of a book, I’ve learned that Heartwood is at the centre of the trunk and grew when the tree was young. While sapwood carries the water from the tree’s roots to its leaves.

Most fascinating is to discover that trees use their sense of touch, taste, hearing, and even talking to support itself and its environment.

Trees deserve our love and care.

A wonderful resource to add to your library, this book will ignite your child’s curiosity and help them realize the magic of trees.

Helps with: learning about the role of trees in nature, habitats, forest communities, photosynthesis, how to plant a tree, the importance of trees to our planet and so much more about trees.
