A boy, a homemade paper boat, and a rainy day.

An adventure awaits.

In this beautifully illustrated wordless picture book, we take an adventure with a little boy who plays with his boat in the rain. From puddle jumping to chasing the boat out of sight, we experience the joys and disappointment of the lost boat, along with the boy.

I love the vibrant illustrations of the little boy in his yellow raincoat and boots and the depictions of water with beautiful reflections in the puddles.

I love that the little boy is playing on his own and has a welcoming home to return to where an adult waits to help him.

Sometimes things don’t turn out the way we want them to, but that’s okay.

At the end of the book, the little boy starts a new adventure and joy returns.

For extra fun the inside covers include instructions for making a paper airplane and a paper boat.

If you are new to wordless picture books, it’s a great way to encourage children to guess at the story and use their observation skills to notice what the book is trying to share. This book is fun to read for all ages.

Helps with: imaginative play, outdoor play, appreciating the joys of nature, creativity, parent/child bond, dealing with disappointment and loss, finding joy in simple pleasures, and visual learning.
