How Full is your Bucket? For Kids

Feb 19, 2019

When your bucket is empty, it’s hard to feel good.

My bucket has been emptied this past year dealing with my child’s behaviour, family pressures, and a whole lot of unexpected twists and turns. What’s going on in our lives and every day interactions can fill or empty our invisible buckets.

When my bucket is empty, one of the most crucial ways to fill it up is by helping others.

Felix’s grandfather shares that we can have our buckets filled—or emptied—based on how we interact with each other.

After their conversation, Felix wakes up and can see his invisible bucket—and everyone else’s bucket too.

Felix’s story is the kid friendly version of the bestselling book for adults How Full is Your Bucket? The message is brought to life as we watch Felix get frustrated, be made fun of at school, and receive acknowledgement. Some things empty his bucket and others fill it up.

This book uses a metaphor to teach kids about kindness and the power of our words and actions. We feel better about ourselves when we help fill buckets instead of empty them.

Whether we know it or not, we are always impacting the buckets around us.

Helps with: power of our words and actions, kindness, feelings, empathy, compassion, joy, anger, frustration, sadness, helping yourself and others, choices, living in the present moment, teaching tool, positive psychology.
