Today, we listen.
Today, we learn.
Today, we open our hearts.
Even young children can learn about the importance of Orange Shirt Day. On September 30th, we honour the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential schools. Those who came home, and those who didn’t.
“Today, we think of the children.”
Phyllis Webstad, the founder of the Orange Shirt Day movement and the award-winning author of Every Child Matters picture book, has written a book to help us have first conversations with our young children about why we wear orange shirts on September 30.
